Jan. 24 Chris went to the ER with what we thought was a kidney stone. After three CT scans, they determined he has a tumor on his kidney. Apparently he aggravated it while working out during lunch that day.
From the looks of the tumor, there is a 95% chance it's cancerous. All his other organs looked clear from the scans.
He had an appointment with Dr. Chauhan at the Conrad/Pearson Clinic on the following day. He basically answered our questions and told Chris he needed to have a scope procedure done to look at his bladder and kidney and the tumor. This procedure will determine whether he needs part or all of his kidney removed. He will have the scan done the morning of Friday, February 8th.
Update from Today: Jan. 28:
The pain Chris is in was caused by the tumor bleeding. It created blood clots that had to pass and that is what was causing his massive pain.
After resting this weekend, Chris' pain is much better from Thursday when this all started. He rested most of the weekend which we think has helped the tumor stop bleeding.
He has a sense of peace over him and feels like God has this under control, which is fabulous.
As for the kids, telling them Friday afternoon went very smoothly. I had two close friends praying for us during that exact time and it really couldn't have gone much better. Caleb is very worried about his dad but we told him if there is a place you'd want a tumor if we get to choose that the kidney is a good spot because God gave us two and we only need one to live. :)
Thanks so much for your prayers and we ask you please continue to pray for complete healing and for the pain to continue to be minimal.
We are so grateful to have great friends and family.
Feel free to leave Chris a word of encouragement in the comment section!

Cindy and Chris, you both are such strong amazing people! So proud to call you friends. You have already brought God so much glory through this situation and I know you will continue to! And I say we throw a going away party for the tumor or more like a good riddance party!! :) Love y'all!
Carrie
Party sounds like a great plan! Maybe a dinner the night before his surgery so he can chow down on something yummy! :) Blessed to have you in our lives, Carrie!!!

Praying for results that science can't explain.
Wouldn't that be amazing, Jennifer?! Would love to share that story and give God all the glory!!!
Chris, Mary and I just heard of your challenge. I wanted to encourage you. I (Dean) just came through chemo and surgery. It's a trip! Dr. Chauhan is my doctor and I'm sure you're in good hands. I happen to know that you're made of 'good stuff',from MH to Mary Ruth, uncle Ric, Randy, Steve, and of course your mom and dad. We are believing that God will keep his word to Chris Brock. Friends, Dean and Mary
Thanks Dean and Mary!
Thanks Friends! Your words and prayers are very encouraging :)
Hey Chris and Cindy,
I just found out what you have been going through right now, and I just wanted to say that you both will be in my prayers. It seems like a puny thing to say, sometimes no amount of words can alleviate the fear and doubt that comes with dealing with such illnesses. But, as I like to remember, in the middle of the book of Lamentations (one of the most depressing books of the Bible) is the verse which says, "And yet I still dare to Hope when I remember this: the Love of the Lord is never-ending" 3:21-22.
Have hope,
Jordan Baker
Christopher, There are already two survivors in this family. The third one will be the charm. You are so special to us. We love you and Cindy. We need to have a wonderful celebration on your first anniversary as a survivor. May blessings and healing pour out on you. Love, Aunt Kathy
Jordan...thanks for the encouragement and Great Verse!
Aunt Kathy...I'm definitely in for the celebration :) Love you guys!
Cindy:
Praying for you and your family!!! Keep us posted and let Amy and I know if you need anything. Love ya.
Chris, I am definitely keeping you, Cindy and your children in my prayers. I have loved you all your life and fill like I'm still part of your family! I am agreeing and believing with you for a complete miracle. God sets us up sometime to show off His miraculous power! You are going to be an inspiration to many to believe in the God that you serve!!! I love you and wait anxiously to hear of all the great things God is doing and is going to do in you!!
Just now reading about Chris' situation. Glad this didn't happen on your trip!! Trust in the Lord, and in those who have devoted their life to the medical field. Rick donated one of his kidneys this past summer to his brother, and has been doing great, so I agree with Caleb! We will be praying without ceasing.... Love, Mary Watlington Sieger
